Sean McGovern is a former Managing Director of BAE Systems Regional Aircraft with more than 39 years in the aerospace industry supporting the design, manufacture and in-service support of the Jetstream and Regional Jet, and with Airbus UK  as the Chief Engineer A320 and Head of Projects A340 for Airbus in the early 2000's.

Sean is a Chartered Engineer and retired Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and a former member of ADS Scotland representing the interests of the Aerospace and Defence industry in Scotland.

Since retiring in May 2019, Sean established Newton Aerospace Ltd offering consultancy services to the Scottish Government and South Ayrshire council as well as NED services to Inter-Tec Aero on the Prestwick Aerospace Campus.

Sean said, "I am hugely impressed by the efforts of Ayrshire College in establishing aerospace related apprenticeship programmes in support of the engineering community in Ayrshire and, of course, the aerospace activities around Prestwick Airport, to which end I am delighted to act as Chair of the Board of the newly formed SAI Aero training business.
